CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2nd International Conference on Educational Economics is being organized by the Facullty of Economics, University of Athens, and will take place in Athens, Greece, on August 27- 30, 2008.

Economic theory and business practice traditionally highlights the importance of human capital as a key factor for economic growth and development. Education plays a crucial role in the formation of human capital. Thus the economic analysis of educational systems, or the economics of education, constitute an important research field.

Today, the economics of education has been firmly established as a distinct field of study while the importance of human capital to economic activity is recognised widely and in all fields of economics. For these reasons, a conference organised in the context of an international network for the study of the economics of education, with the participation of researchers from different fields, promises to create the academic environment necessary for progress in this important line of research.
